Ever since the presidential campaighns there has been alot of discussion about Sarah Palin. Everywhere you turn people are talking about her credentials, family, and the overall divide between Americans when it comes to her reputation. Just recently Sarah palin was on the cover of Newsweek. The cover seems to look out of place and stereotypical. Sarah Palin went as far as saying the cover is "sexiest". I am not neccasarily a Sarah Palin supporter but I do think the media takes a ton of cheap shots at her. Just by observing the way the mass media cover Sarahs stories it is evident that she held to a different, almost comical standard. Overall, I don't think the treatment is fair at all. Some of the issues she brings upon herself with poor speaking performances but overall the media has a feeding frenzy with her. I cannot remember the last politician that was attacked this heavily and comical for so long. Palin has done alot of things for politics and I think alot of people are blinded by her "style". Plain does not look or act like a typical politician therefore it is easy to focus on her as a person. I don't mind the media attacking politicians but in my opinion Sarah Plain is held to a much higher standard. A standard that I don't think is neccassarily fair. If some of the more popular politicians like Obama or Mccain were attacked like she is there would be an uproar from various supporters.

Well---this is open to interpretation. According to me, "at the end of the day it is not the situation that comes your way that counts. It is the way you handle the situation." That said, a good politician/leader is a person "who grabs the stones thrown at him/her by the enemies and use them to build his/her career." As a matter of fact, that brings out the main difference between Parlin and Obama. Obama uses stumbling blocs as stepping stones, while Parlin uses stepping steps to stumble herslf down.
ReplyDeleteBefore Parlin makes a big deal out of her Newsweek cover image, I would refer her to The Washingtonian's Obama cover page on;
http://newblackman.blogspot.com/2009/11/nearly-flawless-masculinity-barack.html
Furthermore, if Parlin thinks that being referred to as "Health and fit" is bad, what will she say about president Barrack Obama being presented as an "African witch doctor," just because he is advocating for health care reform? See picture; http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/conservative_activist_forwards_racist_pic_showing.php?ref=fpa
If their is anything that can be learned from Parlin's example, it is the fact that trying to "sell an unpopular candidate, who is not cabable to sell himself/herself, is like expecting to get milk out of a water melon." It is just absolutelly hard.
My advice to Parlin is that in order to address the controversies that surrounds her once and for all, let her just step out and tell the media and all Americans that, "I Sarah Parlin stand here today to categorically declare and emphasize that from the day I stepped down as Alaska Governor, I will never again run for any political office. So please give me a break, and leave me alone." That way, no one will speculate on her future political posibilities again, and no one will bother her.
