The story that I found on CNN.com talks about how these days it is so easy to tamper with voting systems in the U.S. When I saw this story immediately thought about the situation in Florida with Bush and the votes. I think that these days’ officials are not always the honest nice guys that they seem. The hacking of the voting system was done by a professor at University of Michigan. He was able to look at data and even put the Michigan fight song on the site just for fun. This makes me wonder in the future how someone who wants a certain person to win a certain spot will use their computer skill in order to sway a vote. If it was easy for this professor than any person with computer hacking skills will be able to get in the system where ever they have a computer. Political databases that handle voting numbers I feel should be more secure and safe, because you never know what could happen.

I absolutely agree with how these politicians are not as nice as they portray themselves and the whole voting system being run by technology allows for a lot of opportunity to tamper. Not only this but how can we put all of our trust into a computer voting system. In order for voting like this to be trusted would require a great amount of testing.
ReplyDeleteI would have never actually thought about the voting computing system like this. That is very true there is a high chance of someone hacking the system and changing votes. If this is actually true that someone could hack into the system this easy and actually put Michigan's fight song as the background, something has to be done right away.
